Hi I'm Saskia

I founded ARAI ceramic in 2023. ARAI means "rough" in Japanese – a word that perfectly captures the character of my porcelain pieces.

I work intuitively, with my hands, guided by feeling rather than formula. Nature is my source of inspiration – its textures, quiet rhythms, and ever-changing forms. I’m drawn to tactile surfaces, raw edges, and the imperfect beauty of natural shapes.

Working with porcelain is a way for me to find balance – to slow down, be present, and create with intention. I love to explore structure and form, always with a sense of play and curiosity.

Hi, ich bin Saskia.Ich habe ARAI ceramic im Jahr 2023 gegründet. ARAI bedeutet „rau“ auf Japanisch – und beschreibt für mich genau die Essenz meiner Porzellanobjekte.Ich arbeite intuitiv mit meinen Händen. Die Natur ist meine größte Inspirationsquelle – ihre Strukturen, ihre Ruhe, ihr Wandel. Mich faszinieren Oberflächen, Haptik und die feinen Unregelmäßigkeiten, die durch den Prozess entstehen. Ich suche nicht die makellose Perfektion, sondern die Schönheit im Unvollkommenen.Das Arbeiten mit Porzellan ist für mich ein Ausgleich, eine Art, im Moment zu sein. Es erlaubt mir, zu experimentieren, zu spüren – und etwas Bleibendes zu schaffen.
